Franchising & Licensing Asia (FLAsia) 2016 is taking place from 13 to 15 October in Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.
This is Asia’s most international franchising and licensing exhibition, with the big global companies displaying their franchise opportunities to the little entrepreneurs. It is facilitated by the Franchising and Licensing Association Singapore – Singapore’s national franchise body.
“We are delighted to present the 11th annual edition of Franchising & Licensing Asia,” says Melissa Teo, Assistant Manager of Communications. “Through the participation of leading brands from all over the world, interested parties can seize this opportunity to chat with brand representatives and find answers to their queries and concerns.”
Entrance is free, and anyone who plans to become a franchisee or who just ‘wishes to find out what franchising and licensing is all about’ is encouraged to attend. The event will be educational, with exhibitors covering a diverse range of products and services including restaurants, retail, and health.
There will also be talks throughout the show provided by award-winning industry experts, and anyone can attend them free of charge. “FLAsia features a series of talks and presentations with the aim of helping visitors to gain greater knowledge on the basics of franchising, legal aspects, intellectual property rights, and trademarks in franchising in the Southeast Asian context,” says Teo. Particular ones to look out for are ‘What You Should Know Before Becoming a Franchisee’, and ‘Understanding the Basics of Franchising’, both on the Thursday afternoon.
Other features include conference and workshop programmes with roundtable discussions. Prices for these start at S$250, and with topics such as ‘Cracking the China Market’ they are aimed more at franchisors and business owners.
While there is no admission charge, all visitors are required to register for the show. This can be done online beforehand here, and doing so will give you the chance to skip the entrance queue when you arrive. During the show days you can register on site, bringing a business card if you have one. Registration results in gaining a visitor badge, which must be worn to enter the exhibition hall.
Singlets, shorts and sandals cannot be worn, however, and all visitors must be 16 or older. There is a café in the hall, and car parking is available, with charges subsidised on the weekdays. Opening hours are 10:30am to 6:30pm on the Thursday and Friday (13th and 14th), and 10:30am to 5:30pm on the Saturday (15th). The venue is Level 1, Exhibition Hall B in Marina Bay Sands – an integrated resort located in the heart of Singapore’s central business district.
Keep an eye on the official website for the list of exhibitors, due to be released soon.
