India International Wellness Expo in Mumba

This May 15th to 17th the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) will be hosting its first annual India International Wellness Expo in Mumbai.

The expo will provide a platform to showcase successful businesses in the health and wellness sector as well as business opportunities available in beauty services, cosmetic products, fitness, nutrition, rejuvenation, and alternate therapy.

Chatlani has made it her mission to educate consumers on the benefits of holistic beauty, including Ayurveda, equitable wellness, and indigenous knowledge. At the expo Carina will be speaking about positioning and presenting Indian wellness in the global market. 

The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, which was established in 1927, is a non-government not-for-profit organisation with a membership of more than 2,50,000 SMEs and MNCs companies. The FICCI aims to provide a voice for India’s business and industry.

The health & wellness industry is booming in India with further growth projected.

According to a 2013 survey conducted by the FICCI in conjunction with Price Waterhouse Coopers (PwC) the wellness industry in India is set to reach Rs. 1,00,000 crore by 2015, with a compounded annual growth rate of 15-17%. This phenomenal growth rate driven by changing consumer habits and lifestyles means that opportunities abound both for existing businesses and new entrants.

Within the health and wellness industry beauty care is expected to continue to dominate with almost 50% of the market share, followed by alternate therapy and health food and beverages. 

The industry is predicted to generate more than three million jobs by 2015.

According to Naina Lal Kidwai FICCI former president and HSBC country head “The need for . . . consistency in quality of products and services [is] vital for the wellness industry to meet these growth projections.”

Franchising is an important part of the health and wellness industry providing the proven business model and systems that allow many budding entrepreneurs to succeed in this profitable and high-growth sector.

Franchising also offers the consistency in quality of products and services which Naina Lal Kidwai believes are so necessary to the growth of the industry.

According to a 2013 in-depth survey conducted by the Franchising Association of India in association with KPMG in India, by 2017 the health and wellness franchise sector is expected to grow to almost six times its 2012 penetration level.
